Silk – the most sensitive of substrates – holds the liquid latex to enable it to pick up the friable details of the walls using a minimum number of layers. The strips are of uniform width and length – as is wallpaper. The silk backing is so delicate that light can shine through to bring out the designs imprinted on it by the ragged and varied elements of the decayed walls.
