MAKING: Rust: Studio Practice and Helfa Gelf

Over the course of 6 weeks, several rusted corrugated shed sidings washed ashore. I started to collect them, carrying them back to hang in my studio.

This gave me the opportunity to study these artifacts, decayed and transformed by sea salt and water, now ochre coloured, and latticed with rust. Reflection enabled re-viewing and the revelation of a new beauty.

I decided to handle these discarded items as if they were museum objects, carefully cataloguing and cocooning them in tissue paper and bubble wrap.
