Exhibition: Craftivism

Air letters mailed to Britain, copied and circulated, documented life in Hong Kong in the 1960’s. They are part of a handwritten and typed family archive.

I rolled out paper-thin porcelain sheets to press into the indented letters created by laser etching mdf. The display references different methods of storing paper.

I am interested in the fragility and permanence both of the original letters and the paper-thin porcelain. The process led to recollections and a conversation which was developed further in Letters from the Far East.
