Working with my colleague Sarah Jane Richards, we were commissioned to uplift this acute mental health male ward from the entrance stairway, to corridor and dining room.

The brief fitted our ethos of working directly with patients and staff. We held workshop sessions that enabled us to involve the patients creatively while exploring, through relaxed conversation, what supported them while on the ward.

It was clear the sea view, their garden and the Mumbles were key. We responded to this, bringing the outside in with strong colour, themes and the blue bird motif throughout.
