SHADOW

A sculptural installation of charred branches across rusted iron supports stands in a clearing fronting a large spreading oak – the blackened branches  shadowing the larger living tree behind. The metal stands echo tree supports and blend into the landscape, so that from a distance the shadow branches can appear to float.

I used the Yakisugi process to char the branches – a mixture of drift wood and oak.
