OneTree project

Ruthin Craft Centre Workspace

I was invited by David White – the Whittlings – after he had seen my installation at Aberlleiniog where I had created imagined fungi in the Paper Birch branches.

He was intrigued by this idea and suggested I join the OneTree project. All creators with wood, they were each using the fallen carcass of a beech tree to create new work to celebrate it.

I was given a section of a branch. I pressed my porcelain into the incipient fungal growths to impress the porcelain – then placed them on the branch – broadly inspired by the plate fungus that eventually takes over fallen rotted wood.
