Harlech

I was invited by Andrew Smith to take part in an International residency in a field above Harlech for a week.
I was part of a small group of artists – two from Spain, two from Poland and three from Wales – along with John Brown who hosted this residency project which he had created and established many years ago.
It was a chance for me to bring my paper birch branches and, inspired by Andy Goldsworthy, to explore my work in the landscape.
I moved the branches each day seeking different interactions and conversations in different parts of the field from the dry stone walls to the open spaces, photographing and videoing each iteration.
I selected a single colour – red – in the rope and the splash of colour on the branches. The colour echoes the berries of the rowan trees.
Andrew Smith captured this on a short film.
